Where does "Rain In Summer" take place?

It's one of my faves, and given the era in which it was written it could be a town, but also says country as it states gutters, etc. but for me,,, I love rain, especially in Summer and live in the country, so I don't smell wet roads, but gres, the scent of breezes, the taste of rain fallin, when out, enjoying it, all the senses come into play.
