1995 Subaru Airbag and ABS lights.?

I just bought a 1995 Subaru Legacy ... about 150k mi. The airbag and ABS lights are on. I have an OBD-II code reader, but i can't make the plug fit. I'm wondering if my airbag system has a problem, or if it's some wacky electrical thing because I find it odd the ABS light is on too.
